Firstly the photo on the left, its of the statue of liberty and the statue of liberty symbolizes the freedom throughout the world and stands in the hearts of Americans and the crown, robes and flaming torch is inspiration to American pride.
The thick black smoke which is behind the statue of liberty shows a binary opposition because the statue is something of pure origin and the smoke refers to destruction and carnage. When i saw this photo i thought of the twin towers because it was a major disaster and cause alot of mayhem.
Now the photo on the right is also taken in America but its of a building that has been knocked through and destroyed and this is also a binary opposition because they photographer has purposly left the top of the pentagon in the photo frame, The pentagon is white and white is considered PURE so leaving the white pentagon , the pure pentagon in the back ground of a tampered destroyed ruin shows the effect of the opposition
